Join our guest artist, Oakley Rain Wysote Gray, for an Open Studio Artist Session from 6:30 PM to 9 PM on October 10th!

Open Studio Artist Sessions are monthly informal skill-sharing evenings featuring invited professional artists from different mediums. The artists will be present throughout the evening to briefly present their work and offer skill support to all Open Studio participants.

Biography

Oakley Rain Wysote Gray is from the Listuguj Mi’gmaq First Nation. She identifies as Trans Two-Spirit and uses she/her pronouns. As a Mi’gmaq couturier, Oakley’s work spans both the historical replication of Mi’gmaq artifacts and culturally relevant couture pieces. Her creative vision focuses on decolonizing the fashion realm by producing work that draws inspiration from a Mi’gmaq lens. Her latest collection, Mesiatl (infected), highlights the stories of her ancestors while showcasing the impact of systemic racism and colonization.
