Open Studio is a drop-in, inclusive program for all ages, focused on open-ended creation. Located at Beaverbrook’s Art Education Centre, it offers a welcoming space to explore your creativity and make art. A variety of materials are available, including drawing, painting, lino block printing, collage-making, and more. Our bilingual on-site art instructor is available to help guide you with your art projects.
No registration is required – just drop in!

What to Expect at Open Studio
Location:
Open Studio is located in the Art Education Centre on the lower level of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
Visiting Us:
Wednesdays:
Open to all ages, including children! Please enter through the main gallery entrance, and our front desk staff will direct you to the Open Studio. It’s an excellent opportunity for families or individuals to explore creativity and try something new.
Thursdays:
Thursdays are for adults and focus on collaborative art-making and community-building. This session fosters interaction, skill-sharing, and feedback in a group setting, creating the perfect atmosphere to meet new people, break from your routine, and let your creativity flow. Use the courtyard entrance for direct access, and you’re welcome to either bring your own materials or use those provided.
Materials:
We provide a variety of supplies to inspire your creativity, including:
Drawing: Charcoal, graphite, chalk pastels, drawing paper.
Painting: Acrylic and watercolour paints, brushes, canvas, and watercolour paper.
Lino Printing: Block carving tools, lino blocks, ink, and printing paper.
Collage: Magazines, coloured paper, scissors, glue.

Please Note: Materials brought into the Open Studio cannot be taken into the main gallery spaces.
You may store personal items in designated closets within the Open Studio, but the gallery is not responsible for lost or forgotten materials.
