Masterworks Revisited: Highlights from the Beaverbrook Collection

June 21, 2024August 31, 2024

The core gift that seeded the Beaverbrook Art Gallery collection in 1959 included works that remain favourites of visitors and art historians alike: The Fountain of Indolence by J.M.W. Turner, Hotel Bedroom by Lucien Freud, San Vigilio, Lake Garda by John Singer Sargent, and the numerous portraits, studies, and other paintings by Graham Sutherland.

This summer, visitors will be able to enjoy a selection of highlights from our remarkable collection while their regular home in the International wing gets a much-needed refresh. Featuring masterworks lifted from the pages of British, American, French, and European art history, Masterworks Revisited puts a new spin on some old friends.
