Judy Blake of Lincoln, NB produces sensuous smoke-fired ceramics. She achieves these effects by extensive experiments with unglazed surface treatments using alternative firing techniques such as sawdust-firing, naked raku and saggar-firing. This exhibition will feature new works inspired by her love of the exquisite beauty of humble seed pods. With each piece, she is interested in finding a subtle balance between strength of form and sense of presence.
Curated by Jennifer Pazienza and John Leroux, and organized by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
