The Open Studio is an inclusive space for artists and art lovers. Located in the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s Art Education Centre, the Open Studio provides art-making space and materials to everyone. The Open Studio provides activities for creative exploration and reflection, such as drawing, painting, lino block printing, collage making, textile art and more. A bilingual facilitator will be present to offer creative support, guidance, advice, and materials.
No registration is required, just drop in!
Open three times a week, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Entry to Open Studio is by donation (suggested: $10).
Admission to the gallery is not included.

What to Expect at Open Studio
Location:
Open Studio is in the Art Education Centre on the lower level of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Entrance is through the courtyard.
Wednesdays 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM: Wednesdays are open to all ages, with a bilingual art instructor, access to materials and opportunities to explore a variety of media. This is a drop-in activity space and children under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian.
Thursdays 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Thursdays are open to adults (16+) at any level of experience or artistic skill. Emerging, experienced or just curious artists, we invite all to the shared creative space of Open Studio! Thursdays are great for those looking for opportunities for collaboration, skill sharing, or want a fresh look at their artwork in a group setting. A facilitator will be present to offer artistic support and guidance, advice and materials. Thursday participants are encouraged to bring in their own art materials and artworks in progress.
Fridays 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Fridays are open to all ages and skill levels, from beginner artists to experienced artists. We invite everyone to create, connect explore creativity in a shared welcoming space! Friday participants are encouraged to bring in their own art materials and artworks in progress.
With Open Studio, visitors will be able to take in additional artist talks, creative sessions and workshops. Visitors are encouraged to check our website and social media to stay up to date on the Open Studio.

Artist Sessions:
Throughout the year, professional artists will be invited to share their knowledge and skills with Open Studio participants. Keep an eye out on our social media for updates on when artists will be there.
Materials and tools available:
Drawing materials: Charcoal, graphite, chalk pastels, watercolor pencils and various sizes and weights of drawing paper.
Painting materials: Acrylic paints, watercolour paints, brushes, canvas paper and watercolour paper.
Lino Printing: Block carving tools, brayers, lino blocks, printing ink and printing paper.
Collage: Magazines, colour paper, scissors and glue.
Textile: Yarn, felt, sewing supplies, fabric, knitting needles, crochet hooks, etc.
