Let's Talk Art!

September 17, 2026December 17, 2026

Join us for artwork critiques, artist presentations, themed discussions, creative activities, and conversations inspired by exhibitions and contemporary issues. Whether you're an artist, a student, or simply curious about art, everyone is welcome.

First session - September 17: This kickoff session will feature Alina Karmadanova, the Beaverbrook's new Programs Coordinator, presenting some of her own work. Afterward, we'll open the floor to discuss how participants would like Let's Talk Art! to take shape going forward,  including which formats work best for the group.

Time & Location: 7:30pm – 9:00pm, RBC Learning Centre (enter through the education doors)

Upcoming dates: October 29, November 26, December 17

Interested in joining us? Artists interested in presenting their work, as well as anyone who would like to attend, can email our Programs Coordinator, Alina, at AKarmadanova@beaverbrookartgallery.org to register for an upcoming session. Registering helps us prepare!

Possible session formats:

Open Mic: Artist Talks — Artists sign up for a short presentation (5–10 minutes) introducing a current project/series, research question, exhibition proposal, or artistic challenge. Choose a formal presentation (a template is available to help structure your talk/slides) or an informal talk with Q&A.

Critique Night — Artists bring unfinished work or works-in-progress for a structured critique session, with an emphasis on constructive discussion rather than evaluation. Presenting artists can choose how they'd like to receive feedback.

Art Debates — A moderated discussion centered on a contemporary art question or dilemma. Rather than aiming to "win," these sessions encourage exploring multiple perspectives, strengthening critical thinking, and articulating complex ideas respectfully.
