Join us at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery as we celebrate the opening of Communities, a compelling exhibition featuring the work of four remarkable Atlantic Canadian artists: Guy Duguay, Letitia Fraser, Yvon Gallant, and Nelson White.
Through portraiture and storytelling, each artist explores the people, relationships, and shared experiences that shape our sense of community. Guy Duguay's portraits reflect the vibrant community of artists surrounding Moncton's Aberdeen Cultural Centre, while Yvon Gallant's ongoing series celebrates the strength and resilience of Acadian culture. Nelson White honours Indigenous artists and documents the changing cultural landscape of his community, and Letitia Fraser's work celebrates African Nova Scotian life, family, and the dedicated Black educators who helped shape generations.
Together, these works create meaningful spaces of inclusion, recognition, and belonging while celebrating several of the distinct communities that enrich Atlantic Canada.

Communities is a project of the Marion McCain Institute for Atlantic Canadian Art and will be on view from September 12 to December 13, 2026.
