Discover the story behind the creation of Words from the Crow Clan, a newly published Wolastoqey dictionary and online resource featuring over 19,000 translated words. On June 19 at 6:00 PM at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, editor Roseanne Clark and Wolastoqewi Kci-Sakom spasaqsit possesom – Ron Tremblay (Wolastoq Grand Chief Morningstar Burning) will share reflections on the development of this timely linguistic resource, the collaboration of the Tremblay family in voicing and translating the content, and the importance of language revitalization.
Following the talk, Clark and Tremblay will accompany Emma Hassencahl-Perley (Curator of Indigenous Art) for a guided tour to interpret select artworks from M'ikmaq and Wolastoqey artists through the lens of Wolastoqey latuwewakon (our language).
