September 19, 2025December 12, 2025

For children aged 2-5 and their parents, Art for Tots features fun art games, hands-on activities, and stories taught by artist and educator Peggy Holt. Classes take place every second Friday from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM.

Registration is $20 for non-members and $15 for members, the price is based on one adult with two children. Every additional child is $5 extra, members will pay $4.

September 19 Big Trees!

Tots will use supplied materials to create tree trunks and branches; they will add collaged materials and finger paint to create a beautiful large tree just like the ones Stephen Hutchings painted.

October 3 Plasticine Rivers!

After choosing one of the River of Dreams works for inspiration, Tots will learn how to create a riverscape with colorful plasticine on cardboard.

October 17  Colourful City!

Upon visiting John Fox’s exhibition, A Painter in Venice, Tots will begin to explore sketching their own colourful city. Pencils will be used to draw the shapes, then details of buildings will be added, and the creation will be finished with acrylics.

October 31 Trinkets and Treasures!

During this class Tots will take a walk to visit Denise Richard’s Trinketexhibition and find inspiration in the colorful objects the artist has created. The Tots will then create their decorative pieces  with recyclable materials which might otherwise end up in our waterways.

 November 14  Art and Play!

Art and playtime will be involved during this class as we explore the installations by artists Jennifer Marman and Daniel Borins. Tots will also have an opportunity to create a three-dimensional work involving paper cutting, gluing and painting.

November 28 Apples and Peaches and Pears!

After visiting Mary Pratt’s works on display for inspiration, Tots will paint apples, peaches, or pears as Mary Pratt would have done, in mixed media on canvas boards.

December 12 Christmas Trees!

Tots will create their own Christmas trees to celebrate the Holiday season. Pre-cut pieces will be coloured with oil pastels, glued together and covered with found objects and textiles.
