Family Portrait: Our Intergenerational Bonds

August 13, 2025

In April, the Honourable Lyne Chantal Boudreau, Minister Responsible for Seniors, announced to New Brunswickers an activity aimed at celebrating family bonds through children’s art and creativity, in recognition of Intergenerational Day, celebrated annually on May 1. This provincial drawing activity invited children to depict their grandparents or another important senior in their lives.

Participation was outstanding, with around 200 drawings submitted. This wonderful initiative has sparked enthusiasm among the children and everyone accompanying them, as well as among elected members of the Legislative Assembly, nursing homes, and the CAFi. To further expand the reach of this initiative and showcase the artwork, a collaboration was formed with the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and other partners.

You can view these drawings in our Harrison McCain Pavilion.

Partners:
• Department of Social Development
• Beaverbrook Art Gallery
• Association des ainés francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick
