The core gift that seeded the Beaverbrook Art Gallery collection in 1959 included works that have since become favourites of visitors and art historians alike. Among them are The Fountain of Indolence by J.M.W. Turner, Hotel Bedroom by Lucian Freud, San Vigilio, Lake Garda by John Singer Sargent, and the many portraits, studies, and other paintings by Graham Sutherland.
In the International wing, visitors can explore a selection of highlights from our remarkable collection, which evolves continuously with new additions and adaptations. Featuring masterworks drawn from British, American, French, and European art history, this section offers a unique opportunity to experience iconic works across a range of styles and eras.
