Still Life: Egg Tempera Painting with William Forrestall

Saturday, January 24, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm, join artist William Forrestall for a workshop exploring the fascinating, centuries-old medium of egg tempera. Participants will learn how to mix and prepare pigment with egg yolk, and how to apply this fast-drying, finely detailed medium to a prepared panel. Explore still-life painting while discovering the unique, luminous quality that has made egg tempera a beloved technique since the Renaissance.

Registration is $60, or $48 for members (20% off). All materials are included. For ages 16+. Space is limited.

William Forrestall has been using egg tempera paint for most of his career. His iconic still-life paintings have been featured in over 150 solo and group exhibitions, as well as in a career retrospective at the New Brunswick Museum, accompanied by a 120-page publication.

His work is represented in the Canada Council Art Bank, the New Brunswick Museum, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the New Brunswick Art Bank, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, and other public and private collections. He teaches part-time in the Fine Arts program at St. Thomas University.

He has served on numerous boards and juries, including the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board, where he oversaw the disposition of over 800 million dollars’ worth of art and cultural artifacts. He currently serves as Vice-Chair on the board of the New Brunswick Museum and has received Canada Council and provincial arts grants, a Brucebo Travelling Fellowship, and many other awards.
