Artist talk with Jake Kimble

30 mai 202630 mai 2026

Saturday, May 30th 12:30 PM in the Harrison McCain Pavillion.

Jake Kimble is a Two Spirit, multidisciplinary Chipewyan (Dënesųłıné) artist and curator from Treaty 8 territory in the Northwest Territories. His practice revolves around acts of self-care, self-repair, and gender-based ideological refusal.

Using a “funny bone” as a conceptual tool, Kimble excavates themes of existentialism, narcissism, and the strange, inviting audiences to examine the absurdities of everyday life so they too may exhale, unclench, and even chuckle in the spaces where laughter is often lost.

Kimble will discuss works from My Bones Are Funny, Sometimes They Ache, which features recent photographs, video, and beadwork exploring humour, growing pains, and grief. The exhibition is curated by Emma Hassencahl-Perley.
