We are thrilled to announce that Laura Ritchie has joined the Beaverbrook Art Gallery as our new Director of Institutional Advancement.
A seasoned curator and art consultant, Laura brings over 20 years of experience to this pivotal role. Originally from Saint John, NB, Laura holds a BA and MA in Art History from Mount Allison University and Western University, respectively. She is a fellow of the prestigious Getty Leadership Institute’s NextGen program, which prepares the next generation of museum leaders.
Throughout her career, Laura has held key positions in prominent Canadian art organizations, including the MSVU Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Alberta, Kelowna Art Gallery, and many others, including at the Musée des beaux-arts Beaverbrook. Notably, she served as the Director of MSVU Art Gallery in Halifax and as the Atlantic Region Juror for the Sobey Art Award in 2022. Her broad expertise spans collections, exhibitions, administration, and curatorial work, as well as building and maintaining key donor relationships.
In her new role, Laura will oversee crucial functions such as grant writing, sponsorship acquisition, fundraising events, and expanding the gallery’s membership program. She will also strengthen partnerships with major donors and stakeholders to secure critical funding for the gallery’s ongoing programs and initiatives.
Laura’s passion for the Beaverbrook Art Gallery runs deep. She began her career at the gallery in 2005, working as Registrar, and has since collaborated on several projects with the institution. Her ongoing commitment to the gallery’s mission and growth makes her the perfect fit to lead this vital work in the coming years.
