Sarah Milroy est conservatrice en chef de la Collection McMichael d'art canadien. Ancienne rédactrice en chef et éditrice de Canadian Art Elle a été critique d'art en chef pour le magazine Globe and Mail de 2001 à 2011. En 2014, elle et Ian A.C. Dejardin ont assuré le commissariat de l'exposition De la forêt à la mer : Emily Carr en Colombie-Britannique at Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, UK, followed by Vanessa Bell (2017) and David Milne: Modern Painting (2018). Since joining the McMichael in 2018, Milroy has curated over twenty exhibitions, including Early Days: Indigenous Art at the McMichael (2020–21), Uninvited: Canadian Women Artists in the Modern Moment (2021–22), Denyse Thomasos: Odyssey (with Gaetane Verna, 2021), Generations: The Sobey Family and Canadian Art (2022), Dempsey Bob: In His Own Voice (with Curtis Collins, 2022–23), Wanda Koop: Lightworks (2022), Gathie Falk: Revelations (2022–23), Rajni Perera: Futures (2022–23), and her forthcoming exhibition, Marcel Dzama: Ghosts of Canoe Lake. Milroy was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2020.
