Telling the story of Nel Oudemans, a woman who made significant contributions to the weaving culture in New Brunswick after she arrived from The Hague at the end of World War II. Hogan explores not only the art and business of weaving in New Brunswick but also the mythology and symbolism associated with the craft. In \"Light and Material,\" Oudemans' biography serves as the warp, with various strands of New Brunswick\u2019s weaving history interlacing through it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>This is a free event taking place at the Harrison McCain Pavilion.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"731\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/beaverbrookartgallery.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hogan_2025-731x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4074\" style=\"width:266px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beaverbrookartgallery.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hogan_2025-731x1024.jpg 731w, https:\/\/beaverbrookartgallery.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hogan_2025-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/beaverbrookartgallery.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hogan_2025-9x12.jpg 9w, https:\/\/beaverbrookartgallery.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hogan_2025.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 731px) 100vw, 731px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Danielle Hogan is a visual artist, writer, scholar, intersectional feminist, and a mother to two brilliant and funny humans. With Irish, Italian, and French settler ancestry, Danielle resides as a guest near Sitansisk (also known as Saint Mary\u2019s First Nation), situated on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Wolastoqiyik People. Since 2013, much of her research and writing has focused on the field of textiles. She has been fortunate to study at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Emily Carr University in Vancouver, obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in visual art from the University of Victoria, and was awarded her doctorate from the University of New Brunswick in 2017 during which time she was university's the Dr. William S. Lewis Doctoral Fellow. Currently, Danielle manages collection ArtNB, New Brunswick's provincial art collection.
