To celebrate Perler, radicalement<\/a>, join Mi'kmaq artist Mel Beaulieu on Sunday, December 1st, from 1 pm to 4 pm<\/strong> for a youth-focused beading workshop for ages 15-30<\/strong>. Learn single-bead stitching techniques to replicate texture from the landscape.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n


This workshop is free with registration. Limited space is available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mel Beaulieu (they\/them)<\/strong> is a member of the Metepenagiag Mi'kmaq Nation who lives and works in Fredericton, New Brunswick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mel blends traditional craftsmanship with developing technology - crafting intricate beadwork and transporting it into the immersive landscapes of augmented and virtual reality. The result is work that serves as a testament to the fluidity of gender and identity, the resilience of tradition, and the endless possibilities that arise when innovation and culture converge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mel's creativity serves as a celebration of connection to the natural world, the profound ties of family, and the links we are between past and future.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
