Ces portraits ont \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9s pour la premi\u00e8re fois par James Hall et Thomas McKenny dans History of the Indian Tribes of North America, ouvrage en trois volumes. Trente-cinq des soixante-treize portraits originaux de King qui figurent dans la collection de Lord Beaverbrook font l\u2019objet d\u2019une exposition en deux temps de mars \u00e0 octobre 2025. Celle-ci se penche sur la repr\u00e9sentation des premiers peuples sous l\u2019angle invisibilisant d\u2019une \u00ab\u202fdisparition\u202f\u00bb des peuples et des cultures autochtones. Ce discours probl\u00e9matique et paternaliste a renforc\u00e9 les id\u00e9ologies coloniales de la disparition au fil des si\u00e8cles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les chefs des Nations autochtones se rendaient \u00e0 Washington pour n\u00e9gocier des trait\u00e9s et d\u00e9fendre leur droit de demeurer sur leurs terres ancestrales.
