Sa grandeur - litt\u00e9ralement une gigantesque toile d\u2019une longueur de 40 pieds sur laquelle on voit un arbre, grandeur nature, d\u00e9racin\u00e9 \u2013 rappelle l\u2019immensit\u00e9 des \u00e9motions et du temps. Ses surfaces sont vari\u00e9es, certaines sections de l\u2019\u0153uvre ont \u00e9t\u00e9 dessin\u00e9es pour ensuite \u00eatre effac\u00e9es et recouvertes de vernis transparents color\u00e9s d\u2019une diff\u00e9rente densit\u00e9 et \u00e9voquant le caract\u00e8re fugace de la m\u00e9moire. Dans son travail, Hutchings exprime l\u2019\u00e9cart entre la dur\u00e9e limit\u00e9e d\u2019une vie humaine et l\u2019infinitude de l\u2019\u00e9ternit\u00e9. Son arbre d\u00e9peint le monde ext\u00e9rieur comme l'incarnation d'un paysage int\u00e9rieur.
