{"id":3655,"date":"2024-10-23T14:37:57","date_gmt":"2024-10-23T18:37:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beaverbrookartgallery.org\/?post_type=artists-in-residence&#038;p=3655"},"modified":"2024-10-31T09:03:20","modified_gmt":"2024-10-31T13:03:20","slug":"non-stop-theatrics-residency","status":"publish","type":"artists-in-residence","link":"https:\/\/beaverbrookartgallery.org\/fr\/artists-in-residence\/non-stop-theatrics-residency\/","title":{"rendered":"Non-Stop Theatrics Residency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Non-Stop Theatrics<\/strong>, a company co-founded by Naomi McGowan and Caroline Coon,\u202fwill be in residence at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery from <strong>November 4th to 15th<\/strong>.\u202fThis emerging theatre company is dedicated to delivering training and performance opportunities to local theatre artists.\u202fThey will be using the space at the Beaverbrook to research the life of renowned Canadian artist Tom Thomson and rehearse their upcoming play\u202f<em>Ten Tom Thomsons\u202f<\/em>By Ryan Griffith.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>In partnership with Theatre New Brunswick, this production will be presented at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in January 2025. If you\u2019ve ever wondered what it\u2019s like to rehearse for a play, Non-Stop invites you to stop by the Artist in the Residency room to watch them work.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attention to all writers! This residency will feature a special one-night guest appearance by playwright Ryan Griffith on November 13 at 6:30 pm. He will be hosting a \u2018Writers\u2019 Caf\u00e9,\u2019 where you\u2019re invited to write in any way that inspires you! Whether you revive a story you started a decade ago or embark on an entirely new creative journey, the choice is yours. At the end of the evening, there will be an optional sharing component for those who wish to present their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Caroline Coon<\/strong> (she\/her) is an actor, playwright, and producer living in Fredericton.\u202f She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts from the Marilyn I Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts at Brock University, and is a graduate of Randolph College for the Performing Arts. As an actor, she has worked with Theatre New Brunswick, Capitol Theatre, Bard in the Barracks, Nasty Shadows Theatre Company, Branch Out Productions, and NotaBle Acts, among others. She is the other half of the team behind Non-Stop Theatrics, and in her spare time, she loves running, listening to Taylor Swift, reading on patios, and getting out to see as much theatre as she can. Follow along with her adventures on Instagram @mscarolinecoon.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ryan Griffith<\/strong> grew up on the banks of the Wolastoq River in Lower Woodstock, New Brunswick. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada (2007), his plays Fortune of Wolves and Lutz have been published by Playwrights Canada Press. His original plays Returning Fire and A Brief History Of The Maritimes and Everywhere Else, as well as his adaptation of Alistair MacLeod\u2019s The Boat have been produced by Theatre New Brunswick.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most recently, he was awarded the inaugural Jenny Munday Atlantic Canadian Play Award by PARC for his two-act play, Wharf. Ryan has served as a board member for PARC (Playwrights&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Atlantic Resource Centre) and the Playwrights Guild of Canada. Currently, he is the Artistic Director for the Next Folding Theatre Company in Fredericton. (www.nextfolding.ca)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Naomi McGowan<\/strong> is a multi-disciplinary theatre artist based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She works as a theatre instructor and administrator at Theatre New Brunswick and is a co-founder and artistic director of Non-Stop Theatrics. Currently, her focus lies in performance, direction and intimacy direction.
