Position profile:
The Membership and Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting the organization’s membership and fundraising efforts. This role includes managing member relations, coordinating development activities and events, grant writing, and assisting with marketing and communications tasks. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and has strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Membership Management:
- Manage and maintain the membership database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Process memberships, renewals, and payments.
- Respond to member inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain members.
- Prepare and distribute membership materials, including welcome packets, newsletters, and renewal reminders.
Development Support:
- Assist in setting and reaching goals for membership, fundraising and development.
- Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events.
- Coordinate donor communications, including acknowledgments, appeals, and stewardship.
- Track and report on fundraising progress, including donor contributions and event outcomes.
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities and assist with grant applications.
- Support the development and management of corporate partnerships and sponsorships.
- Ensure all donor and financial information are properly input into our database.
Marketing and Communications:
- Assist in the creation of marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and newsletters.
- Assist the Marketing Coordinator with social media and email marketing campaigns.
- Assist with communications tasks including press releases, media relations, and copyediting.
General:
- Assist the Director of Marketing and Development with other duties as required.
- Liaise with other departments as needed.
- Adhere to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s Code of Conduct, Health and Safety Policy, and other policies outlined in the staff handbook.
Qualifications
- A university degree in a related field and at least one year of experience in a non-profit, or similar complex environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in database management and basic data analysis.
- Customer-centric mindset with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with members.
- Knowledge of art and the gallery’s collection is a plus.
- Bilingual in French and English is a plus.
