Curator Crunch: Cuts like a knife! The real Lucretia

March 11: 12:15- 12:50 pm. Lucas Cranach the Elder (1472-1553) was one of the most influential artists in 16th-century Germany, and one of the most important artists of the Northern Renaissance. Cranach’s painting “Lucretia” (c. 1530) was titled “Young Woman” before it was cleaned in 1969, which revealed the image of the tip of a knife blade at the bottom of the work.
