Emma Hassencahl-Perley: Mixed media workshop
$40 non-members, $30 members
In celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day and the International Year of Indigenous Languages, and inspired by the art of Carl Beam
Emma Hassencahl-Perley is a Wolastoqiyik (people of the beautiful, bountiful river) artist from Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick, who received her Bachelor in Fine Arts from Mount Allison University. She describes her artwork as multidisciplinary, with a practice rooted in painting, printmaking, and drawing that has in recent years moved toward beadwork, textiles, installation, social engagement art, and performance art. Major themes in her artistic practice are drawn from her observations of the relationship between the settler-state of Canada and Indigenous people through a social and political lens.
