Victorian Landscape Paintings
Various Artists - Permanent Collection
Drawn from the Gallery’s permanent collection, this exhibition presents a view of the British countryside during the nineteenth century. Against the contrasting backdrop of the Industrial Revolution, Victorian Landscape painters created images of an idyllic rural paradise that appealed to the nouveau riche. Featured artists include: Myles Birkett Foster, Samuel Bough, George Vicat Cole, Horatio McCulloch, James Faed, Jr., and many others.
