Stephen Hutchings – Landscape Tales
This exhibition presents the wide range of Stephen Hutchings’s subjects and themes. From early prints of bushes, to a recent video that imagines conceptual landscapes, Hutchings’s art evokes the terrain of the “inscape,” not simply the physical landscape we normally consider. The exhibition is accompanied by a book by the artist weaving stories about his past, his methodology, and his experiences in the field that, together with the exhibition, all spin a magical quality around the very notion and genre of what constitutes a landscape.
Curated by John Leroux and organized by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery with the support of Allison and Clare McCain.
