North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Benefits

What is the North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association?

The North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association is one of the largest reciprocal membership programs in the world with members in the United States, Bermuda, Canada, El Salvador and Mexico! NARM has 1,038 arts, cultural, and historical institutions along with botanical gardens, children’s museums, science and technology centers and more that offer their individual NARM qualified members reciprocal benefits.

How does NARM work?

Arts institutions choose to join NARM – they pay a fee and have access to the NARM program for a year.  Having access to NARM means that our qualified Beaverbrook Art Gallery members now have the added membership benefit of free admission and gift shops discounts at 1,038 arts, cultural, and historical institutions along with botanical gardens, children’s museums, science and technology centers.

Which Beaverbrook Art Gallery members qualify for NARM?

The following Beaverbrook Art Gallery members qualify for NARM:

  • Curator’s Circle
  • Director’s Circle
  • Life Members

Why don’t Individual & Family members qualify?

NARM stipulates that their benefits may only be granted to categories of membership that cost $100 or more.  (Individual and Family memberships therefore do not qualify.)

What if Individual & Family members want access to NARM?

They can easily upgrade their membership to the level of Curator’s Circle, Director’s Circle or Life Member.   If they need to renew their membership, or if they are purchasing a membership for the first time, they can purchase in the level of Curator’s Circle, Director’s Circle or Life Member.

For example, if I belong to the Individual category of membership at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery then I paid $55 for my membership, and since Curator’s Circle memberships start at $115, I will upgrade my membership by paying the additional $60 to the BAG.  I will receive a tax receipt from the BAG for the $60 in addition to now having access to NARM privileges.

So how do we know which other arts institutions belong to NARM?

You can download the NARM list – it is located under ‘Map & List’

So Beaverbrook Art Gallery members in the levels of Curator’s Circle, Director’s Circle and Life membership now have access to free admission at participating NARM institutions?

Yes, they do.  Free admission covers the individual and their family whose names are on their membership card.  Free admission does not cover their guest(s).

So Beaverbrook Art Gallery members in the levels of Curator’s Circle, Director’s Circle and Life membership now have access to discounts at participating NARM institutions?

Yes, they do.  They have access to a variety of discounts that mirror what each individual arts institution offers their own respective members.
