Artistica Summer Art Camps 2019

Day camps for young artists!

Essential details:

  • Camps run 5 days, or 4 if the week includes a statutory holiday. A limited number of spaces are available for camps
  • All materials are provided!
  • Your week-long adventure includes gallery visits, lunch time outings to see the Calithumpians, and games on the Green. Some camps also include outings to Science East
  • Dress for mess and fun! Non-marking indoor shoes recommended.
  • Camps are open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. (Programming runs 9:00 am to 4:00 pm)
  • Please pick children up between 4:00 and 5:00.
  • Campers need a lunch and two snacks, drinks, sunscreen and sunhat.

 

Emerge Camp for teens, ages 13-16
12-Aug to 16-Aug
Learn creative strategies by looking at and responding to art. Develop your skills through focused workshops in drawing, painting, sculpture, 3D printmaking, and emerge into the world of contemporary art. Offered in collaboration with Connexion artist-run-centre and Science East.    

 

Light Beams, ages 5-12
24-Jun to 28-Jun
Combine dreams, science, and a global perspective like Carl Beam! Shine a light from mini to mega with painting, printmaking, and pottery.

Chickadees, ages 5-8
02-Jul to 05-Jul
Explore animals in the wild and in art! Create papier maché sculptures, paintings, printmaking, and more inspired by the collection.

Travelers, ages 9-12
08-Jul to 12-Jul
Discover the world through art from the Wolastoq River to the Camino de Santiago! Combine painting, photography, and sculpture to create a gallery assemblage from around the world.

Chipmunks, ages 5-8
15-Jul to 19-Jul
Fun and fast artmaking: clay and plasticine sculpture, t-shirt tie-dye, mosaics, and a robot race!

Storytellers, ages 9-12
22-Jul to 26-Jul
Unlock tales from the vault and develop stories into cartoons, paintings, and performance. Create a stop-motion paper animation inspired by art!

Maritimers, ages 5-12
29-Jul to 02-Aug
Celebrate our beautiful landscape, creatures, and cultures!  Make musical instruments, paint en plein-air, and tell a story through tartan design.

Atelier, ages 9-12
06-Aug to 09-Aug
** Bilingual for French immersion students ** Create portraits, landscapes, and sculptures while practicing French! Discover Acadian, Québécois, and other French artists.

Acadie en Couleur, ages 5-12
12-Aug to 16-Aug
**In French with Roberte Melanson.** Play with blue, white, red and yellow in the Acadian landscape with drawing, painting and sculpture. Come explore Acadian culture!

Big and Bold, ages 5-12
19-Aug to 23-Aug
Let your imagination go wild! Paint murals, build papier mâché parade puppets, and create a video performance.

 

ABOUT OUR CAMPS

All our art instructors and camp super-visors are experienced educators who encourage creativity, self-expression and development in the arts.

Your children will have the opportunity to create original art in a friendly, respectful environment where they are at the center of the learning process.

Our staff are certified to provide first aid and CPR and to adapt to your children’s learning style and needs.

PAYMENTS AND RECEIPTS
Please note that refunds are possible only with a 5 day cancellation. Refunds or camp changes MUST be accompanied by your original receipt.

Your cash register receipt is your official receipt. Please ensure that you pick up your receipt before or during the camp week and retain it for any applicable purposes.
