The countdown to October 15 begins! Only 38 days until our pavilion’s public opening celebration.

On May 20, 2015, we announced a new phase in the Gallery’s history and of its physical home, publicly launching our plan to expand the Gallery along the eastern part of the facility.

That October, we broke ground on our new pavilion: an elegant space designed by the award-winning firm MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects of Halifax. The pavilion adds new exhibition spaces, a café, an artist in residence studio, and more art and amenity spaces. The wing opens into a courtyard, joining the Gallery with Fredericton’s vibrant downtown and green spaces.

Since then, we’ve had to interrupt traffic (sorry!), we’ve listened to (CLANG!) days (CLANG!) of pile driving (CLANG!) and had conversations interrupted by jackhammers, and the Gallery was temporarily closed to the public to renovate part of our original building.

But, we’ve also seen steelwork seem to spring up from the ground; we’ve seen the breathtaking windows installed (carefully!); and we’ve seen our new café and amenity spaces take shape. And, most of all, we’ve felt the excitement of the whole space coming together, of seeing Santiago el Grande’s new home, of the beautiful vistas through the windows.

We can’t wait to share that with you all in 38 days!

Yes, only 38 days until October 15th, when we throw open the doors to this new space and welcome the public in, celebrating the new space, celebrating the visual arts, and celebrating you, our visitors and supporters.

We want you to share this excitement and celebration with us.

So, mark your calendars for October 15, 2017, and RSVP to our Facebook event page, or follow our website, to keep up with the event.

That weekend marks the end of this building project, and the first days of something new.

We’ll be here, celebrating. Will you?
