Call for submissions: Creative Summer Residencies 2019

Creative Summer Residencies 2019
in the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s Bruno Bobak Artist-in-Residence Studio
Call for submissions

Information and submission guidelines:

Artists are invited to submit applications for short-term summer residencies in the Bruno Bobak Artist-in-Residence studio at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

The Creative Summer Residencies 2019 run for two-week periods from June 17 to September 8 (please indicate your preference on the application). Residencies start on Mondays and end on Sundays.

Artists are invited to connect their projects to, or draw inspiration from, the Gallery’s collection or exhibitions on display for the duration of their residency. With this year being the 60th anniversary of the Gallery, we especially invite artists to connect their work to the Gallery’s permanent collections and history. Interacting with the public is a very important element of this residency program; we encourage artists to discuss their creative process with visiting members of the public.

Artist honorarium is $500 per week. Artists are required to be in the studio for 30 hrs per week, during the Gallery’s opening hours. The artist is responsible for their own accommodation and transportation during the residency.

Submission checklist:

1. A completed application form
2. Résumé or curriculum vitae
3. Artist statement
4. Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) obtained within the past 6 months.
5. Recent examples of artwork

Please send your residency submission, by 5:00 PM on May 17 2019, to:
